Cold weather & driveway heat salt
Q: My puppy is 10 months old almost 11 months. he likes to stay out in the snow and sometimes it's very cold, 14 degrees or below. can this cause problems later on in his life? we never leave him out more than a half hour each time. he is a german shepherd. also i have always been told that the salt we use to melt the ice and snow on the sidewalks and driveways are very bad for animals, is this true and if so what kind of damage does it do. thank you
A: Salt is only damage if dogs walk on it excessively. some dogs are sensitive to it and can cause paw irritation while others have no problems to it. an individual issue. i would not worry if she likes it outside, as long as you limit exposure when severely cold
