Sentinal vs heartgard plus
Q: My 41/2 year old westie gets a dose of frontline plus each month - in addition for the first four years he was on sentinal. our vet has left general practice and the new vet prescribed heartgard plus - even though i requested sentinel. what is the difference between the two? is one recommended over the other? i am concerned about parasites because he does like to eat rabbit droppings. (yuck)
A: Heartgard plus and sentinel protect against heartworms, hookworms and roundworms. sentinel also protects against fleas and whipworm.

Continue worming
Q: Used strongid every 2 weeks for 3 months as prescribed by vet, now after a month of not worming, she is 16 weeks old now, can i buy a wormer and continue or does she need a vet again. should i have any concerns or should she be okay if i start again?
A: I would stop routine worming in a dog and simply use once monthly heartworm preventative with heartgard or interceptor which prevents most worms.

Heart guard plus
Q: For years my vet has been charging me $60.00 or $10.00 per pill for heart guard plus. why is it you people sell this for $19.95. my little dog is 14 years old and weighs 20lbs at the most. are the other heart guard medicines better now. there is so many brands such as interceptor etc. does heart guard plus still require a prescription.?? i just found out today that i have been giving heart guard plus wrong to my pet. my little dog swallows everything hand fed. i give my dog 7 pills each evening close to midnight. i disguise all by wrapping them in canned dog food. none of these pills are prescription. just vitamins, joint pills, gas pills, anxiety pills, antitoxidant pill, skin and hair pills. has my little dog lost the benefits of heart guard plus by swallowing it each month???
A: We cannot answer your question about the difference in price as we sell the exact same product that your veterinarian does. it would be better for you to cut the heartgard plus into 5 or 6 slices prior to administration.
